Console Latch Lubricant Owners of some 1999-2003 Chevrolet and GMC fullsize pickups and utilities with a center console may comment that the lid is hard to open or close. According to bulletin 02-08-49-007, this may be caused by insufficient lubrication on the latch. TIP: Do not replace parts in an attempt to repair this condition. TIP: If the lid will not open, depress the center console latch handle button and give the top of the center console lid a sharp rap with your hand. Apply a small amount of GM Dri Slide® Lubricant 1052948 (992926 in Canada) to the center console latch, through the opening in the latch trim plate (fig. 9) . Operate the latch while spraying to work the lubricant into the mechanism. Open and close the console lid several times to verify the proper operation of the latch.
