Loose or missing rear wheelhouse plugs (exhaust gas entry) - recall 00V-343

Light duty pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles; the NHTSA record lists GMC Yukon and Yukon XL 2000-2001. Model years come from the NHTSA record's product list held in the database, not from the recall text.

Some vehicles have loose or missing rear wheelhouse plugs.

Under certain operating conditions exhaust gases can flow forward and accumulate in the rear wheelhouse.

What to do

  1. Dealers inspect for loose or missing wheelhouse plugs and install new plugs if necessary.

If left

  • With a missing or loose plug the gases could enter the passenger compartment and could cause illness, unconsciousness or death.→ exhaust gases entering the passenger compartment
