The vehicle (where a record says)

A record is under an engine, a drive or a series only where it says so: the characters of the vehicle identification number filed with a complaint, its text, or what its document says it applies to. A record that does not say is kept as "not stated". The filed numbers and the documents do not tell 4WD from AWD.

Common on this vehicle:NoiseWarning lightCorrosion or rustLeakMisfire or rough idleAir conditioning or heaterReduced brakingLights (headlights, turn signals)

Record by record

815 records state a cause or a remedy. Each record is shown as short labels in the order fault → finding the cause → correction. Press a label to narrow to the records that state it.

A ribbon is as wide as the records that state both of its ends (only the commonest are drawn). A record that names several symptoms or components runs through each. Orange is records that say the fault came back or was not fixed. Results come from owners’ reports only; one that does not say is “result not stated”. None of this is a likelihood of a cause or a rate at which work succeeds.

Known issuesUnwanted ABS activation at low speed (front wheel speed sensor mounting corrosion)8

  1. Recall2002 GMC YUKON ・ —

ABS activation recall in pickup trucks and SUVs

    1. 1Fault

      • Corrosion may occur between the front hub/bearing assembly and the wheel speed sensor; if the brakes are applied at a speed greater than 6 km/h (3.7 mph) but less than 16 km/h (10 mph), the corrosion may cause an unwanted ABS activation.
      • If this occurred where stopping distance is limited, a crash could occur.
      • The condition does not set any ABS codes and does not illuminate the ABS warning lamp.
    2. 2Finding the cause

Steps to confirm (in the document’s order)

      1. Check the mounting surface on the sensor head for flatness against a metal machinist's scale or other straight edge, in multiple positions/directions (minimum 3).
      2. With the bearing rotated at about one revolution per second, the reading should be at least 350 ACmV; if it is less than 350 ACmV the wheel speed sensor must be replaced.
    3. 3Correction

      Repair

      1. If the mounting surface on the sensor is warped or bent, the sensor must be replaced.
      2. Thoroughly clean the wheel speed sensor mounting surface on the bearing hub with a wire brush, sandpaper, emery cloth, scotch brite or equivalent to remove any rust or corrosion.
      3. Spray two thin coats of the specified rust penetrating lubricant (corrosion inhibitor) on the complete sensor mounting surface on the bearing hub, letting it dry between coats.
      4. When the corrosion inhibitor is dry to the touch (about 10 minutes), apply a light coating of the specified grease to the complete sensor mounting surface on the bearing hub and to the sensor and O-ring.
      5. Tighten the wheel speed sensor mounting bolt to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

      Parts

      • Parts listed: 89022217 Lubricant, Rust Penetrating, and 01051344 Lubricant, Wheel Bearing.

Part numbers printed in the document

The numbers are as the document prints them. The name and the replacing number are what the pages of GMPartsGiant, a reseller of genuine parts and not GM, state. Aftermarket equivalents are not checked here (the links only search by number). Confirm the fit for the vehicle (VIN) before ordering.

      Caution

      • Remove the sensor by pulling it straight out of the bore; do not pry it with a screwdriver or other device, because prying will break the sensor body off in the bore.
      • This revision changes some breakpoints and adds vehicles that have moved into the severe corrosion areas; copies of bulletin 05068B, issued April 2006, are to be discarded.

Internal Coolant Leak from Cylinder Head Location

    1. 1Fault

      • Some vehicles may experience a gradual coolant loss over time.
    2. 2Finding the cause

      Possible causes

      • A very low percentage of cylinder heads manufactured with an embossed Castech logo may develop a porosity crack in a very specific area.

Steps to confirm (in the document’s order)

      1. Check whether the head is a Castech casting by looking for the casting logo on top of the intake port, under the rocker arm support rail and in the spring deck cavity portion of the cylinder head.
      2. If the head is a Castech casting, inspect the area around the five oil drain holes for witness marks indicating coolant seepage over time.
      3. The crack can be in any of the five cylinder head oil drains and shows as a clean or shiny area on an otherwise stained surface.
      4. Pressurizing the cooling system at this time may reveal coolant, air, or a combination weeping in the described area.
    3. 3Correction

      Repair

      • If inspection reveals evidence of coolant witness marks, replace the entire cylinder head assembly.

      Caution

      • If the cylinder heads are not a Castech casting, follow normal diagnostic procedures in SI to determine the cause of the coolant loss.

    • Applies to:Only filters with date codes X52911 through X60801 sequentially or X600141, and with a Mexico country of origin marking on the filter housing, are subject to the recall.
    • Applies to:The application table lists YUKON 1992 - 2005, YUKON DENALI 2005, YUKON DENALI XL 2005, YUKON XL 1500 2000 - 2005 and YUKON XL 2500 2000 - 2005.
    • Condition:The connector on the fuel filter was not manufactured to specification, so the O-ring may not seat correctly on the fuel line; this may cause an inadequate seal, potentially leading to a fuel leak (wetting or dripping) and possible vehicle fire.
    • Confirm:The part number (G3727), country of origin (Mexico) and the date code (e.g., X60031) are located on the side of the fuel filter.
    • Repair:Honeywell will replace the subject fuel filters at no charge to the customer.
    Cause
CERTAIN REPLACEMENT FUEL FILTERS, FRAM BRAND NAME P/N G3727, WITH DATE CODES X52911 THROUGH X60801 SEQUENTIALLY OR X600141 AND A MEXICO COUNTRY OR ORIGIN MARKING ON THE FUEL FILTER HOUSING MANUFACTURED FROM OCTOBER 18, 2005, THROUGH MARCH 21, 2006, SOLD FOR USE ON THE VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE AND ON CERTAIN SCHOOL BUSES. (TO SEE THE SCHOOL BUS ENGINE SIZES, CLICK ON "DOCUMENT SEARCH" AND THEN "BUS APPLICATIONS"). THE CONNECTOR ON THE FUEL FILTER WAS NOT MANUFACTURED TO HONEYWELL'S SPECIFICATION. AS A RESULT, THE O-RING MAY NOT SEAT CORRECTLY ON THE FUEL LINE.
    Remedy
HONEYWELL WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE FUEL FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 18, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FRAM CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-890-2075 (OPTION 1).
    Consequence
THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE AN INADEQUATE SEAL AT THE CONNECTION, POTENTIALLY LEADING TO A FUEL LEAK. IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A FIRE COULD OCCUR.
