2nd/3rd row outboard seat belt retractor internal crack - recall 01V-159

Pickup and utility trucks; the NHTSA record lists GMC Yukon and Yukon XL 2001. Model years come from the NHTSA record's product list held in the database, not from the recall text.

An internal component in the outboard seat belt retractors for the 2nd and 3rd row seats could be cracked.

What to do

  1. GM enclosed an inspection procedure that owners can use, or dealers can do the inspection.
  2. Dealers inspect the outboard seat belts for specific lot numbers and replace the belts if necessary.

If left

  • With repeated actuation of the locking mechanism the crack could spread until the seat belt no longer locks.→ seat belt no longer locking
  • In a crash, the no-lock condition could increase occupant injury.→ increased occupant injury in a crash

In the records

  • Seat Belt: replaced 1
