Candidate cause (the documents say what to do)

Center console lid hard to open or close (lubricate the latch)

According to bulletin 02-08-49-007, this may be caused by insufficient lubrication on the latch.

What to do

  1. Open and close the console lid several times to verify proper operation of the latch.
  2. If the lid will not open, depress the center console latch handle button and give the top of the lid a sharp rap with the hand.
  3. Apply a small amount of GM Dri Slide Lubricant 1052948 (992926 in Canada) to the center console latch through the opening in the latch trim plate, operating the latch while spraying to work the lubricant into the mechanism.

Caution: Do not replace parts in an attempt to repair this condition.
